Hearing the word cancer immediately strikes fear into those who have received this diagnosis from their doctor. But, in many cases, early detection can lead to a successful treatment plan and recovery.

 

On episode 27, we are honored to have two men who heard these words and defeated this disease. Former University of Maryland football star Kenny Roy and DeMatha High School’s Xavier Redd chronicle their fight against prostate cancer. 

 

Step2TheMic Episode 26: A Tribute to John Thompson, Jr.

On episode 26, we honor one of the greatest basketball figures on any level. 

John Thompson, Jr., the long time head basketball coach at Georgetown University, passed away at the age of 78. We all know his impressive basketball resume: National Championship as a player at Archbishop Carroll High School; NBA Championship as a member of the Boston Celtics; National Championship at Georgetown University; and enshrinement into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

Those accomplishments will always be remembered along with the impact he had on the countless number of people he met in his lifetime. Three of members of our podcast team knew "Big Coach" well and shared their individual stories. Here is Monica McNutt, Ted Jeffries and Andre' Jones.
